Manager, Fixed Assets

This is a chance to own fixed asset accounting at a fast-growing grocery retailer with more than 10,000 employees. You will be the go-to subject matter expert, lead a team, and shape the policies and processes that support continued growth. The role sits in Corporate Accounting and reports to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Accounting. The schedule is hybrid, in the office Tuesday through Thursday.

What you'll do

• Create and define the company's fixed asset processes and policies, and act as the subject matter expert for fixed asset accounting
• Review direct reports' journal entries (additions, disposals, depreciation) and fixed asset reconciliations
• Work with the facilities team to keep construction in progress and the transfer of assets to stores timely and appropriate
• Review period-end and quarter-end fixed asset and construction in progress reporting for management and financial reporting
• Maintain strong controls in a SOX-compliant environment and work directly with internal and external auditors
• Develop your staff, monitor their output, and assist with budgeting and forecasting

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred
• At least five years of progressive experience in public or private accounting, including fixed asset accounting
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls, plus experience with month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting/forecasting and variance analysis
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP and reporting software such as Workday or Tango
• Experience preparing or reviewing SEC filings; grocery, retail or restaurant experience is a plus
