Finance Manager

A small, mission-driven venture capital firm is hiring its second finance team member. You would own fund accounting across seven funds and lead the rollout of an AI-native fund administration platform, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. This is not a traditional fund accounting seat. You will help decide how finance gets done here instead of inheriting someone else's process.

What you'll do

• Own day-to-day fund accounting across seven investment funds, including capital accounts, NAV, management fees, capital calls, distributions and fund financial statements
• Prepare and oversee LP reporting and capital account statements
• Coordinate with external fund administrators, auditors and tax providers
• Lead the implementation, rollout and ongoing calibration of a new AI-native fund administration platform
• Find repetitive manual processes and build automated workflows, reporting and data systems to replace them
• Maintain clean investment and valuation data, and partner with the Head of Finance on strategic and ad hoc projects

What they're looking for

• 3-5+ years in fund accounting, fund administration, VC/PE finance or investment fund audit
• Strong understanding of venture capital and private equity fund structures and accounting
• Fluency with capital calls, distributions, NAV, management fees, capital accounts and fund financial statements
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial data
• Hands-on experience with AI tools or finance workflow automation, or real enthusiasm for learning them (Power Query, SQL, Python, Excel macros or Airtable are a plus)
• An entrepreneurial, high-ownership mindset and the ability to work independently in a lean team, on-site five days a week in San Francisco
